Yes I know....

I am sooooooo tired of people telling me that my daughter looks exactly like her father and nothing like me, even if they say it in a joking way. I KNOW SHE DOES. I HAVE EYES. And of course being pregnant with number two they say he'll look just like his father too. Duh people that happends, it's called strong genetics. GAH!

Its actually a psychological phenomenon as well - it helps reinforce to the father that the offspring is genetically theirs, as well as reinforces it to the community. They have done studies and whatnot, and people will say a baby looks more like an UNRELATED man that they THINK is the father than the mother even. Its just one of those things.

I was going to say the exact same thing.

I get that too.

What's even worse is when they say, "oh she looks so much like her daddy, but i see a little of you in there somewhere" or a complete stranger sees just us two and says "she's so beautiful, she must look just like her daddy".

My poor husband, that's all he hears, that our son looks just like me. I don't mind so much. :P His ex, she hated that everyone said their daughter looked just like him, but man, she is a girl version of her dad!!

OMG I really hate it too. I've been really conscious about not mentioing who my nephew looks like, brother or SIL because I remember how agitated it made me. Particularly the inlaws (though my family did it too) but they couldn't stop saying how he was his clone and he obv didn't even come out of me given he didn't look like me (real nice) and he could be their baby not mine. And took it further to say it was a shame that a son always had the closest bond with its mother. WTF!!! My son looks like a perfect mix of the two of us now (at 19 mos) but they won't say it, except to say he has my eyes. Hoping #2 comes out looking just like me, so they shut up. LOL! I don't mind, I love my husband, I'm so happy my son got most of his prominent features, but the comments, could totally live without them. (Should be mentioned same individuals started talking about forcefeeding him formula, when he was only a few weeks old, whilst I was in the washroom, all so that they could take him home with them, and then he'd not need me or my milk anymore! And they wonder why they still haven't babysat. I'm still BF'ing too. LOL!)
